In Roman Egypt, philosopher and mathematics professor Hypatia of Alexandria lives amid a society being reshaped by the rise of Christianity. Her slave Davus is devoted to her and falls in love with her, but he also sees in the growing Christian movement a possible path to freedom. Torn between personal longing and the chance to change his fate, Davus must navigate a world of shifting beliefs and loyalties.
