When 16-year-old John Paul Getty III is kidnapped, his mother is thrust into a frantic fight to save her son. With the ransom demand hanging over the family, she turns to the boy’s immensely wealthy grandfather, Getty, and tries to persuade him to pay. As time runs short, her devotion is tested against a fortune and a refusal that makes an already desperate crisis even more painful.
