Lester Burnham is a depressed suburban father whose life has become hectic, unhappy, and defined by frustration. In the middle of a mid-life crisis, he becomes infatuated with his daughter’s attractive best friend, a fixation that pushes him to reexamine the routines and compromises of his everyday life. As his restlessness grows, Lester decides to change course and try to take control of his life again.
