As Good as It Gets centers on a misanthropic author, a single mother who works as a waitress, and a gay artist whose lives become connected after the artist is assaulted in a robbery. Brought together by difficult circumstances, the three form an unlikely friendship that crosses sharp differences in temperament, background, and everyday life.
