In 1942, after the Philippines falls to Japanese forces, U.S. Army Col. Joseph Madden remains behind instead of leaving with the retreating army. Working with local fighters, he organizes a resistance movement and leads a guerrilla campaign against the Japanese invaders, trying to keep the fight alive under occupation.
