Ashley is close to building a middle-class life in Oakland with Miles, her partner of 12 years and the father of their son. When Miles is suddenly incarcerated, her life is thrown off course, forcing her into a chaotic and often humorous existential crisis as she moves in with his mother and half-sister and tries to adjust to a new reality.
