Frances is serving time for killing her abusive husband when she enters Whitehead Correctional, a mostly African-American women’s prison where inmates are forced into a profit-driven labor program under slave-like conditions. As the prison’s exploitation grows impossible to ignore, Frances and her fellow inmates organize against the institution in a brutal fight for justice.
