In 1920s Oxford, Paul Pennyfeather is a mild, inoffensive divinity student whose life is upended by a cruel prank. Targeted by The Bollinger Club, he is made to appear guilty of indecent exposure and is wrongly dismissed from the university. Cast out through no fault of his own, Paul is forced to face the consequences of a scandal he never caused.
