In 1925, lone and obsessive Arctic prospector Jack McCann finally strikes gold and becomes enormously wealthy. Twenty years later, he has withdrawn to a quiet life on a Caribbean island, but his fortune brings little peace. As he struggles with an alcoholic wife, a strong-willed daughter engaged to a man he despises, and Miami mobsters pushing to build a casino, Jack begins to lose control.
