Frozen River

After her husband leaves, working-class mother Ray Eddy is left struggling for money and trying to secure a home. Drawn by the promise of quick cash, she becomes involved with Lila, a widowed Mohawk woman who supports herself by smuggling immigrants from Canada into the United States across the St. Lawrence. Together, the two women enter a risky arrangement born of desperation.
