Rod Slater, the newly appointed general manager of South Africa’s Sonderditch gold mine, finds himself caught in a ruthless scheme driven by financiers and mine owners. Unaware at first that he is being used, Slater begins to uncover a plan to drill into an underground lake and flood the mine, a disaster intended to drive up the price of gold on the world market.
