During World War II, American Army medic Desmond T. Doss serves in the Battle of Okinawa while holding firm to his refusal to kill. As a conscientious objector, he enters combat without firing a shot, relying on his duty as a medic rather than a weapon. His actions make him the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honor without taking up arms.
