In rural Western Massachusetts in the summer of 1991, 11-year-old Lacy passes the days at home, absorbed in her imagination and deeply attached to the attention of her mother, Janet. As the season unfolds, their quiet world shifts when three visitors move through their orbit, each drawn in by Janet and the hold she seems to have on those around her.
