In 1932 Mississippi, two strangers are convicted of a crime they did not commit and sentenced to spend the rest of their lives in prison. Forced into the same harsh fate, the men form an unlikely but lasting friendship, relying on each other as the years pass and their bond carries them through decades behind bars across the 20th century.
