In the 1920s on the French Riviera, a master English magician is brought in to investigate a woman claiming to be psychic. Hired to determine whether her abilities are genuine or part of a clever swindle, he applies his professional skepticism to the case. As he tries to expose the truth, the assignment becomes complicated by personal feelings and unexpected romantic entanglements.
