The Man Who Wasn't There

In the summer of 1949, Ed Crane is a quiet, chain-smoking barber in a small California town, dissatisfied with his marriage and his uneventful life. When he learns that his wife, Doris, is involved with her boss, a mysterious chance to invest in dry cleaning tempts him toward a new future. Ed turns to blackmail for the money, setting off a grim tale of crime, murder and punishment.
