In the late 1970s, two FBI agents in the Elite Serial Crime Unit push criminal science into new territory by studying the psychology behind murder. As they develop early profiling techniques, their work brings them into contact with notorious serial killers and rapists, forcing them to confront how close an investigation can get to the minds of real-life monsters.
