Famous director Guido Contini is under pressure as the start of his latest film approaches, but he has no clear script and little sense of purpose. Arrogant and self-centered, he struggles to balance his work with a turbulent personal life, searching for inspiration and answers through his complicated relationships with his wife, mistress, muse, agent, and mother.
