On Becoming a Guinea Fowl

On a deserted road in the middle of the night, Shula comes across the body of her uncle. As her family gathers and funeral proceedings begin, the formal rituals of mourning give way to uncomfortable questions. Together with her cousins, Shula starts to uncover long-buried secrets within their middle-class Zambian family, exposing tensions that have been kept out of sight.
