Pennies From Heaven

During the Great Depression, a sheet-music salesman struggles against the dullness and hardship of his everyday life. Drawn to the promise and emotion of popular music, he looks for escape in songs that seem brighter than the world around him. When he becomes involved in a love affair with an innocent schoolteacher, his longing for a different life grows more urgent.
