Silent Trees

After her mother dies tragically on the Polish-Belarusian border, 16-year-old Kurdish refugee Runa is forced to take on a role far beyond her years, caring for her four younger brothers as if she were their mother. This partially animated documentary follows her coming of age in the shadow of loss, displacement, and the wider global refugee crisis.
