The Birth of a Nation

In the antebellum South, Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher, becomes a force of resistance against the system that holds African-Americans in bondage. In 1831 Virginia, he organizes and leads an uprising aimed at liberation, setting a movement for freedom in motion and provoking violent retaliation from whites.
