During the Second Sino-Japanese War, a cholera epidemic devastates Beijing after the disease is used as a biological weapon. With lives at stake, four Chinese intelligence agents capture a Japanese biochemist and his bodyguard, believing they may know the vaccine formula. To force the truth out of their prisoners, the agents stage an interrogation shaped by Chinese opera.
