The Devils

In 17th-century France, Father Urbain Grandier, a charismatic priest, works to protect the city of Loudun from the influence of the corrupt Cardinal Richelieu. His position is threatened when a sexually repressed nun accuses him of witchcraft, giving church and state officials a chance to exploit the charge for their own ends.
