In a dystopian future ruled by a fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship, Offred is forced to live as a concubine in Gilead. Surrounded by Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas and other Handmaids, she must move carefully through a society where anyone could be watching. Her only goals are to survive and find the daughter who was taken from her.
