Detective Matthew Venn returns to the small North Devon community where he grew up, accompanied by his husband, to attend his father’s funeral. Once part of an evangelical church there, Matthew now faces the family and faith community that excommunicated him. As he begins investigating a murder, he must also confront the traumatic past he left behind.
