Louie Kritski is a wealthy, wisecracking landlord who has ignored the conditions in his run-down apartment building for too long. Facing jail for his negligence, he is handed an unusual sentence: live in the same filthy, rat-infested building he owns until he brings it up to livable standards. Forced into the world he has neglected, Louie confronts the consequences of his own heartless behavior.
