The United States vs Billie Holiday

In the 1940s, Billie Holiday is celebrated by devoted fans while drawing the attention of the Federal Department of Narcotics. As the government intensifies its war on drugs and seeks to silence her performance of the controversial ballad “Strange Fruit,” Holiday becomes the target of an undercover sting led by Black federal agent Jimmy Fletcher, with whom she begins a turbulent affair.
