Woman Walks Ahead

In the 1890s, Catherine Weldon, a portrait painter and headstrong widow from Brooklyn, travels west to Dakota to paint Sioux chief Sitting Bull. As she enters a world far from New York, she becomes drawn into the Lakota people’s fight to protect their land and finds herself in conflict with an army officer determined to push toward war with Native Americans.
